The problem with most cover letters
Two failure modes account for nearly every weak cover letter. The first is the generic letter: the same paragraphs sent to twenty employers, which a reader can spot immediately because it never mentions them. The second is the over-written letter: three hundred words of adjectives that restate the resume without adding a single piece of information.
A good cover letter does one job: it connects a specific requirement in the posting to something you have genuinely done, and it explains why this employer, in particular, is worth your attention.
How the Cover Letter Generator works

How to make the draft better than the draft
- Name a real moment. Replace one generic claim with one specific example — the project, the customer, the number you can defend.
- Add the "why them". One sentence about the company's product, mission, or team that you couldn't have written about any other employer.
- Cut the flattery. "I'm excited to apply" costs a line and says nothing. Lead with the substance instead.
- Check the names. Role title, company, and hiring manager if the posting names one — the most common error in AI-assisted letters is a leftover from a previous application.
- Read it out loud. If a sentence doesn't sound like something you'd say in an interview, rewrite it until it does.
